Once upon a time, I opened seven days a week.
After about six months, I looked at my sales and realised Mondays were my slowest days so I closed on Mondays.
I still remember that first Monday off…
Then, because I desperately wanted to go to a Monet exhibition in Melbourne (seriously!), I decided to open every second Sunday and, oh my, look at that … my first Sunday off coincided with said Monet exhibition…
…except I got really sick, and after dragging myself around the exhibition, feeling woosy and very, very sorry for myself, I spent the rest of my “holiday” in bed at the hotel.
Sigh.
Soon after, as my poor confused customers kept checking if I was open, I decided to close Sundays altogether.
But, and it was a big but, I still opened by appointment on both these days and public holidays, too.
So, today as you read this, I could be either putting my feet up at home and reading “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin OR I could be at The Shoe Garden helping a gorgeous customer or customers find their perfect shoes.
Either way, it’s the best of both worlds.
Until next time
