What a year we’ve had already … devastating fires, floods and now a worldwide pandemic.
Sounds more like a bad horror movie than our real world.
It is easy to feel completely overwhelmed and defeated in the face of such adversity, even if we haven’t been directly affected.
I am deeply sad for all those who have and worried for all those who may be. It’s unsettling to think that there are is so much that is unknown and out of our control.
Although we still do have some control, I keep reminding myself: to look after ourselves and those we love and keep supporting community and business.
For my little business, it’s times like this that I’m glad I’m little!
I can be flexible, pivot quickly and I don’t rely on a lot of staff to deliver my products to my beautiful customers.
I have more than a dozen suppliers and some of my stock, given I ensure I have new stock every month, is already here and can be brought forward if other stock is delayed.
I’m also incredibly thankful to have a thriving online business should we get to that stage where people don’t wish to, or can’t, visit my shop.
I can’t even imagine what that would look like, but I’m getting as prepared as I can.
Because in the end, that’s all we can do.
Be aware, prepare and, importantly I think, don’t panic.
I’m not a medical expert, nor a financial guru; I just want and have to believe that we can get through this. We live in a fortunate country where the experts have our back. Indeed, the best minds in the world are working on this because we’re all in this together.
Meantime, we need to keep on living and supporting and caring for each other.
Until next time, Carol & CCx
