Unexpected generosity always melts my heart.
Earlier this week, I hosted an event at The Shoe Garden for Women’s Network Australia.
I was asked to speak about my business journey and how important it is to be proud of what you do and to be loud about it, too. Such a great topic … I could have spoken for hours!
It was a lovely evening, filled with some amazing business women, great food and plenty of bubbles.
The next morning, I stopped by to see Peter Willes from Willes Fine Foods in Bulimba to let him know that my guests loved his canapés. So many had asked for his details for future events; they were seriously impressed.
Now Peter and his lovely wife Mary and their amazing team have been catering for my events since my other life at the Spinal Injuries Association. I’ve always maintained that the most important thing at any event is the food … happy tummies mean happy guests!
I asked Peter for the invoice and he refused. He asked instead that I donate $120 to MicroLoan Foundation Australia to “help the women in Africa”.
Now, it might have been because the day before had been very long…
It may have been because the week already had been very, very long…
Or it may have been that I was just overwhelmed by this unexpected generosity that I burst into tears.
Sometimes when you don’t expect it, the world reminds you how many fantastic people there are!
Until next time
