All I can say is … lucky the man has gorgeous shoes!
“The man” is a new agent I met at the Shoe Expo this week.
I was super impressed by his range and excited that many styles went to a size 13.
Then I started to give him my spiel … the one where I carefully explain how I have promised my customers new shoes each and every month and to make this happen, I need to have his shoes (along with everyone else’s across more than a dozen brands) arrive when I want and need them.
I went on about how it’s not just about my cash flow, but it’s also about ensuring I have a wide range of new shoes available each month; that I’m able to showcase these on social media; and that I have the space for them.
“Oh,” he said. “So what you’re doing is over here …” pointing to his right “…and what everyone else is doing over there …” pointing to his left.
I guess the implication was that I was going against the tide and not following the norm.
I call it being innovative and responsive.
As I said, lucky for him his shoes are amazing and he has promised to deliver the shoes when I want them. Win win.
And what else did I discover at the shoe expo that you can expect for summer?
Low chunky block heels are definitely in. Indeed, in one range I was hard pressed to find any high heels as everything was low.
Mint and mustard are some of the surprise colours this coming season.
There’s not a lot of metallic around, which caused me some alarm given I have so many young customers who need glam shoes for school formals. So I’m on the hunt for as many of those that I can get.
White platform soles are definitely in and sneakers are still huge … covered in sparkles and spots and anything goes really.
Until next time
