When six huge cartons filled with gorgeous sandals arrived this week, I sighed with relief.
They were a special rush order, in response to dramas that began many months ago.
Back in February when I was viewing and ordering my Summer 2017 stock, I was very excited to find a new brand that would go to a size 15.
That’s rare, so I was pretty chuffed. These were affordable sandals and shoes made from leather that looked great and went extra long. Perfect. I don’t sell many size 14s and 15s, but I love to have some in stock when someone comes in so they at least have a bit of a choice.
So I put in a big order and looked forward to seeing them on the happy feet of my gorgeous customers.
When they arrived, I realised that I had received less than half the entire order and, on top of that, only up to size 12 or 13, depending on the style, with some of those fitting more like a size 11 and a puzzling lack of some sizes altogether.
The brand had decided that they didn’t get enough orders for the longer sizes so, without informing me, slashed my order and thought that would be acceptable.
I sent the entire order back. I have never done that before, and didn’t do it lightly, but it was completely unacceptable to get so little of what I had actually ordered.
Suddenly I had a huge gap in available sandals and was desperate for more.
Then along came Django & Juliette to the rescue, a reliable and popular brand that goes to a size 14 in some of its range (I wish it was more of the range actually, but I’m grateful for what I can get!).
They accepted the tight turnaround of two months and so this week some of their gorgeous sandals arrived and have already been walking out the door.
Yah and phew!
Until next time
