I had two wonderful drawings presented to me this week in honour of CC’s birthday.
First, there was a beautiful card from 16-year-old Imarnie on which she drew CC on my desk, complete with party hat and barking (there must have been a dog passing by or a courier outside!). I was included, too, wearing a dress stating “I love beautiful shoes”.
But what I love most about this drawing is that she drew herself and highlighted her 6ft3 height with the accompanying quote: “OH WOW!! A shop that finally sells shoes my size.”
I love that Imarnie is confident and proud; that she loves her heels; and that she thinks that just because she’s tall, doesn’t mean she should shy away from a higher heel. She embraces her height.
We all have our comfort zones and we all have our hang-ups (my list is long, don’t worry).
But it does break my heart a bit when I hear women or girls saying they can’t wear those heels as they will make them “too tall”.
The other masterpiece was presented to me by four-year-old Grace, the daughter of a beautiful customer on the Sunshine Coast. Given the torrential rain of late in south east Queensland, I think Grace captured the dark thunderous clouds and puddles very well!
CC is included, of course, and I’m holding her on the leash next to the sunshine that is coming soon.
The thoughtful and lovely drawings are two more reasons why I love my customers and I love my job.
Both pieces of art are now proudly displayed at The Shoe Garden!
Until next time
